There’s no denying the art scene in Las Vegas. When walking around the city you are greeted by murals, colorful buildings, and so much more.

Is it really surprising that there’s a big music influence in Las Vegas too? Okay so we all know about my friends, The Sonic Shakers as well as Champagne Lipsmack. So, check it. Every Monday Champagne Lipsmack hosts Monday Melodies at Ricks Rolling BBQ. It’s a bar (with really good loaded potatoes). The food is done fresh, so is the sauce. The brisket is so soft it falls apart against your fingers. FOOD ASIDE. Upstairs there’s a patio. That’s where Monday Melodies happen. The patio is cozy. I don’t say that to say “it’s small” I say it’s cozy because it’s decorated in a way that’s very comfortable. The walls are wood, as well as the tables. There’s quirky decorations throughout the place. The center part of upstairs is where the bar is. You can order food upstairs and get it brought up to you. The have a little food elevator which makes everything convenient. Especially if you’ve had too many Arkansas Lemonades (I’m warning you now you don’t taste the alcohol in those things, but you WILL FEEL IT). Atmosphere aside, Monday Melodies is a safe place for musicians of all kinds to perform. And of course Champange Lipsmack preforms also! Monday Melodies is where you get the acoustic duo.

Monday Melodies is from7 pm to 10 pm. Sometimes they go over for more fun. Mondays are also industry nights. That means discounts for teachers and etc. If you still want to hang out and listen to live music I recommend the Berlin Bar. They have punk rock karaoke. I was pleasantly surprised to see there was indeed a PUNK scene in Vegas. Everyone came dressed to impress. What’s fun about the rock scene is even wearing something casual is punk. There’s so many levels to the sub-genre. The Berlin Bar is super adorable, food is affordable but the drinks… Stick to Rick’s. Also if you aren’t into the rock scene, a lot of people sung along to emo classics, and even karaoke classics like Celine Dion.

In doing Punk Rock Karaoke, I’ve learned about so many other spots to go for live music. If you want to support local arts in Las Vegas, you just have to look for an event. There’s constantly something. I am forever grateful to be able to witness the local art scene grow into what it is now. I can’t wait to go to more shows, and make more friends!

Those are some photos of The Sonic Shakers preforming at various locations. Even if you aren’t a musician, like me, it’s so much fun to sing along, or get up and dance! I promise you, supporting the local art scene is so worth it!

A big thank you to Jerry "Fucking" Parga aka The parga-nator for introducing me to my favorite cover rock bands!
